Support Services

As Rochester's premier workforce preparation agency, OACES offers a variety of additional services to support our adult students.

Employment Services Group (ESG) is staffed with six different job counselors fluent in over 14 languages. Visit their office in room 210 to make an appointment for help with writing your resume/cover letter, looking for job openings, submitting a job application, preparing for the interview, and continued follow-up.

MAC (Making a Connection) Academy is an enrichment program for refugees aged 15-24 who have been resettled in the United States for five years or less. MAC members receive assistance in the educational growth, academic support, driver's education, college assistance, and general life mentoring. Our MAC program also provides students with opportunities to take field trips around the city of Rochester and around the country. Recent field trips include Boston, New York City, and Niagara Falls!

Our Literacy Zone program is a reform initiative from the New York State Department of Education aimed at improving literacy in urban populations with high concentrations of poverty and/or low levels of English language proficiency. The Literacy Zone program offers annual job fairs, employment activities, health fairs, and weekly community presentations. We also offer these programs at our four Welcome Centers throughout the city of Rochester, including the Phillis Wheatley Library, the Maplewood Community Library, and World Relief of Western New York.

I like OACES because they have an excellent staff. They help a lot in the learning of each of their students, but also they help with life outside of the classroom. They give you an opportunity to leave with a job and title.
